Everyone that has Amusement Rides and Attractions operating in West Virginia is required to have them inspected before they are open to the public each calendar year. Eagle Inspection Service is here to make that process, simple, hassle-free and effecient for you and your staff.
There are a few things you have to do to get ready for the application process for the state.
Process For Sending In The Application To The WV Division of Labor
1. Call our office to check on inspection date availability.
2. Once we firm up a date of inspection, then fill out the forms that can
be obtained HERE.
3. Send in the forms to the WV Division Of Labor.
4. Once we get the approval back from the WV Division Of Labor, we will
call you and confirm the date once again, and work out the time we
will arrive to start your inspections.
5. You will be required to have the rides ready for inspection, which will
include but not limited to, operations manuals, training manuals,
owners manuals, and maintenance logs.
6. You will need copies of all of your NDTs for the ride as required by
the owners manuals.
Items the WV Divsion of Labor will need to process your applicaiton
1. Current WV Business License
2. Copy of your insurance that is current and will still be current at the time
of inspection and operation in WV
3. Payment must be made at the time of application
4. A list of your rides you are needing inspected
5. A play date list for the equipment being inspected
6. A copy of the forms for the equipment being inspected
7. Supply the WV Division of Labor with your current NDTs for those rides
needing them
Do go karts need inspected in WV?
Yes go kart tracks need inspected in WV. The entire track counts as one ride regardless of how many cars you have on the track. So it is one permit for the track which will include all the cars. Each car will need a number on them and each car will have to pass inspection to be allowed to operate on the track.
If my equipment is being used for a private party or function, am I required to obtain a permit to operate in WV?
Yes, all amusement rides and devices are required to have a permit to operate in the state. Private parties are NOT exempt from permits.
Do coin operated rides have to be inspected in WV?
No. stationary coin operated rides are EXEMPT in WV, however if the ride is a coin operated ride and it still requires and attendant, then those ride DO REQUIRE a permit to operate.
What is the requirement for Hard Water Slides in WV?
A water slide has to be inspected in WV. Any slide in a pool area that gets it water from the pool pump system is required to have a yearly inspection regardeless of how large or small the slide is. Water slides the have an external water source such as a water hose are NOT required to have a yearly inspection.
Does WV require trained life guards on inflatable water slides with pool attachments?
Currently that is not a requirement in WV. You would need to check with your event organizer to see what rules they might require, which could be different from the WV Division of Labor regulations.
Do Inflatable Water Slides follow the same rules as Hard Water Slides?
No. Inflatable water slides follow the same inspection rules as inflatable rides such as bounce houses, obstacle course and such. Regardless of where their water source comes from, they MUST be inspected yearly.
